Yoast SEO 3.4 plugin update puts focus on accessibility

Yoast SEO, a popular Wordpress plugin to enhance a website’s SEO visibility on search engines, has released a new update. This new update puts the focus on accessibility with a number of small changes that are likely to make a big impact to those who require specialist features when developing websites.

This new release was made after hiring Andrea Fercia, a leading accessibility developer for Wordpress back in April.  Since then the plugin developers have been dedicated to improving accessibility using small changes as highlighted in Yoast SEO plugin changelog.

Some of the main updates to accessibility

  • Improved heading hierarchy
  • Improved the knowledge base search and admin menu by making it focusable and operable with a keyboard
  • Adding labels and titles to several fields
  • Readability checks
